Pat's Mother Wounds
Pat is one of many clients who experience Mother Wounds. Our mothers will never be perfect so they may leave wounds that need to be healed: abandonment, rejection, abuse, etc.
At Penfield, we provide a class that teaches what a mother wound is and a follow-up group to process those intense feelings. Pat wrote many letters to her mother (only to be discussed, not mailed) as a way of processing those feelings so she doesn't have to carry those wounds around for the rest of her life.
Pat also was able to identify her core values through a Values Identification class. Often, clients are unsure of what their values are or have compromised those values in their addiction. Pat was able to identify honesty and integrity as a value that is important to her and her desire not to compromise them in the future.
Penfield's program is designed to heal the whole person. Mind, Body and Spirit.

To the mothers who are weeping for their children, know that God is listening.
He hears our prayers as He heard Rachel’s when she was weeping for her children. As a mother, it can feel like our children are being dragged away from us with no hope for the future by addiction.
